NICOLA MORGAN

Nicola Morgan's first novel is the totally compelling, first novel Mondays Are Red. The story is about a boy, Luke, who wakes up from a coma with a very rare illness called Synaesthesia. No one realises Luke has this illness and we accompany him as he tries to come to terms with the strange, dark world he now inhabits. Synaesthesia occurs when one sense is stimulated but experience occurs with one or more other sense at the same time, for example, a person hears a musical note and experiences a specific taste or smell or sees a specific colour. As Nicola Morgan explains: "For some it (synaesthesia) simply means that when they think of a day of the week, they are bombarded with sensations of a particular colour&. For others, life is a kaleidoscope of mixed sensations& people with synaesthesia can open up the endless world of human imagination&"

Nicola Morgan has written over 50 non-fiction books for children but for nineteen years it has been her ambition to publish a work of fiction. The inspiration for her remarkable novel, Mondays Are Red came from her duaghter, who has Synaesthesia. The language she uses in the novel is very creative, the plot utterly absorbing, disturbing, exciting and page-turning. Nicola Morgan is a great new children's author for older children (and adults!)

His writing is exceptionally vivid and the characters and action explode in technicolor in your mind's eye as you race through the pages. It is suitable for those aged about 12 to adult who enjoy a spine-tingling, creepy and exciting read and who are not of a nervous disposition!
