There are certain stories that endure for children, becoming fairy tales that they will never grow out of. These tales have turned into films and plays repeatedly over time, renewing their magic for children each time.

Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and similar princess tales are extremely popular with young girls. The Grimm Brothers recorded these stories long ago, and they are repeatedly re-introduced for the next generation. The current spin on these tales has been given a new twist, giving a stronger female presence to the princess in the story.Check out this link here. This creates a wonderful role model for today’s young girls.

Peter Pan is another tale that youngsters love, from the original stories to the newest versions today. The wonderful tale has been expanded in new book series, giving several film versions and even a Broadway play. Its positive message of working together, using your imagination and believing in yourself provides a wonderful message to youngsters.

“The Arabian Nights” are another popular set of tales that youngsters can enjoy. The mystery, suspense and setting will fire up a child’s imagination. Parents will find it well worth their while to revisit these stories with their children, introducing them to classics that they will remember.

We live in a visually concrete world. Objects are visible for the most part. There are things in our world that we only feel like the wind. There are things that we only know through knowledge and science like the distance of the sun and the moon. These things in our world are taken for granted by all living things on earth. To tickle the brain of a human one needs only to reach out into the world of fantasy and watch that person’s brain grow in possibility thinking.
One of the first books that is read to children in many cultures is a book on fables like Aesop’s Fables. The origin of Aesop, a black slave living in Greece, is obscure. But his stories are full of lessons and possibility training. There are other people like Aesop that make for books that tickle the brain by making it leap from the concrete world of reality to the abstract world of thought development. Another book would be the Bible and the parables of Jesus that were also like Aesop’s Fables part of abstract thinking that tickles the human mind.
Another book that tickles brains is “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea” written before submarines were invented. Such are the books that tickle the human mind.

Shel Silverstein is one of the master authors that can get kids to laugh. His books include “A Light in the Attic” and “Where the Sidewalk Ends.” These books contain a collection of poems that are down to earth and hilarious reads for children. Many adults actually enjoy reading his children’s books, because they have such a humane quality about them. “The Missing Piece” is an actual children’s book (without poetry) that was written by Shel Silverstein for children in 1976.

Another renowned children’s author is Dr. Seuss. The Dr. Seuss books are simply timeless and have been used to get children to read for years. One of the original books, “A Cat in the Hat,” is a simple read that captivates the attention of children.

Soothing Stories – Best Books To Set The Mood For Sleep
Children love stories that lull them into a thoughtful yet soothing sleep. The best books that accomplish this are those that have a conscious rhythm to their storyline. There’s nothing like a short storybook that captures a child’s imagination and keeps their attention with rhyming verses. The cadence and tempo create a magical experience while the syncopation of the rhymes make drowsy little eyes heavy with sleep. For the older child, select stories that they identify with most such as a bicycle race, a special event or biography of another child. Teens most often like to read books that are about contemporary music or musicians, current events related to their peerage or outstanding school events and accomplishments.

Book Recommendations – Where To Find The Best
Most school librarians can offer the best book recommendations for younger children and teens. Check whether this is a list of recommended books at the local school and public libraries. Teachers are also another good resource for book recommendations that provide stories that soothe at bedtime. Don’t forget that this can be a good time to introduce the light classics to childrens’ literature repertoire.
