V.A.T.
V.A.T. (Value-Added Tax) is a charge levied against most products and services within the European Union. In the U.K. books are zero-rated for V.A.T., however, for audio books and gift wrap V.A.T. is charged at 17.5%. For products that combine a book and an item such as a cassette or a CD-ROM, the V.A.T. is charged only on the non-book element of the total cost. V.A.T is clearly itemised on your order summaries as you proceed through the checking-out process. Customers outside the U.K.

The Children's Bookcase is required to collect V.A.T. on orders dispatched to most countries within the European Union. (Amounts of VAT charged are in accordance with the local legislation in each country???) Orders dispatched to countries outside the European Union will not be subject to V.A.T. but may be subject to local taxes and customs charges.
